I am Geri and the new owner at Future eyes.
I started out as a trainee dispensing optician in an independent optician over 40 years ago and have been a manager and worked in training departments for large multiples but rediscovered my love of simply helping people select the right frame and lenses for them when I started working once again in independent opticians.
In independent opticians there are no restrictions to the type of lenses that can be used and it is about taking the time to discover what people need by talking to them and finding out about them, what they do in their day to day lives and what they need from a pair of glasses.
In 2013 my husband Gerald and I had the opportunity to buy an eyewear shop in Flitwick called ideal eyewear. Just like Future eyes, this shop just sold eyewear, so we took the decision the put in a sight test room and set out to deliver to people what we would like to see in an optician, service and care.
Our optometrists take as long as they need for an eye examination and I know that all our clients are advised based on their needs and budget, NOT on what lenses we prefer to use.
Our eyewear is sourced from independent suppliers and we believe what we stock is a little different from the normal black and brown frames found in a lot of high street stores. Over the 5 years we have been in Flitwick we have grown and mostly by word of mouth recommendation.
When Tim asked me about Future eyes, we decided we had to see it and the decision was made. I knew that I was taking over from a big character but be assured I have the same mission, to ensure you all get eyewear that looks good and at a price that suits all budgets and to ensure that your eyewear stays looking good by providing a free aftercare service.
We have already introduced a few new frame ranges and there are a few more still to be bought in.
Tim had already put in the fantastic Maui Jim sunglasses and the sister brand Zeal and they will be staying as they cannot be bettered.
Kathy & Pat are my assistants and will be here when I cannot.
Kathy has a flair for frame styling and a great eye for what suits people and has been in Optics over 12 years.
Pat like myself is a Dispensing optician with the same ethos of customer service.
